Jongin Shim

Jongin Shim (M'95) was born in Kangreung, Korea, in 1960. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1983 and 1985, respectively, both in electronics, and the Ph.D. degree in physical electronics from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan, in 1992. From 1985 to 1988, he was with the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), Taejon, Korea, where he worked on InGaAsP-InP optoelectronics lasers. In 1992, he joined the Optoelectronics Research Laboratory, NEC, Tsukuba, Japan, where he conducted research on tunability and coherence of growth. He has been an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Hanyang University, Ansan, Korea. His primary research interests include optoeletronic semiconductor device modeling and optoelectronic packaging. Prof. Shim received a Student Award of Excellence in 1992 from the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
