Joana L A Bras

My scientific journey started in 2006 after graduating in Molecular Cell Biology. Following PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences, I joined NZYTech, a leading and highly dynamic Portuguese biotech that leads the development of Life Science and Molecular Diagnostic solutions. I have a solid scientific expertise in molecular and structural biology of carbohydrate active enzymes (CAZYmes) and cellulosomes. At NZYTech, I have been exploiting the large amount of genomic information available and thus, I have been involved in the development of automated high-throughput platforms for gene synthesis, cloning, protein expression and enzyme screening. Nowadays, my work is focused in driving innovation and advancing the development of new diagnostic tests. My contributions have included real-time PCR product’ design, optimization and validation of novel in vitro molecular diagnostics kits.
