Jianping Chen

Jianping Chen received the B.S. degree from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China, in 1983, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai, China, in 1986 and 1992, respectively. He is currently a Distinguished Professor with the State Key Laboratory of Advanced Optical Communication Systems and Networks, Department of Electronic Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He has authored or coauthored more than 200 papers in journals, such as Optica, IEEE/OSA Journal of Lightwave Technology, and IEEE Communications Magazine. He also holds more than 60 patents from the U.S., Europe, and China. His main research interests include integrated photonic devices, photonic signal processing, and precision fiber-optic time and frequency transfer. Prof. Chen is the recipient of honors, including the National Excellent Education Achievement Award and the Science and Technology Progress Awards from the State Ministry of Education and Shanghai Municipal Government. He is currently the Director, Office of Strategic Planning, and Secretary-General, Academic Committee, SJTU, and a Member of the Discipline Review Group of the Seventh Degree Committee of the State Council. He was also an Associate Editor and the Guest Editor for journals,such as IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications.
