Jérôme Primot

Jérôme Primot graduated from the Institute of Optics, Palaiseau, France, France. He defended a PhD thesis in 1989, which demonstrated for the first time the interest of deconvolution from wavefront sensing (DWFS) in high angular resolution astronomical imagery. Since 1991, he has held 12 patents in the field of interferometry. In particular, he discovered multi-lateral shearing interferometry, a bi-dimensional extension of traditional lateral shearing interferometry. Nowadays, these interferometers are commonly used in major public research centers all around the world and in industrial research centers; this work has been acknowledged by the “Prix Yves Rocard de la Société Française de Physique, 2008.” He is a shareholder in Phasics, a start-up created in 2003 to commercialize these interferometers. He has also made significant contributions in the field of Talbot imagery, non-diffracting arrays, and X-ray phase imagery, and is involved in the field of optical system design. He has developed new concepts in Fourier transform interferometry and designed advanced radiometric cameras, for airborne applications. He has written more than 60 papers published in international journals. He is currently the Research Director at the Optics Department of ONERA (the French Aerospace Lab), Palaiseau, France. Dr. Primot is a member of the steering committees of “Triangle de la Physique” and laboratory of excellence Palm.
