Jérôme Kalifa was born in Paris, France. He graduated from Université Dauphine, Paris, in 1995 and received the Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, in 1999. He joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, New York, in 1999, as a Postdoctoral Fellow. In 2001, he co-founded and joined Let It Wave, a startup company based in Paris and specialized in geometrical image processing. His research interests include harmonic analysis, inverse problems and nonparametric estimation in signal processing, as well as medical and spatial image processing.
