Jaakko V. I. Timonen

Jaakko V. I. Timonen received the M.Tech. degree in engineering physics from the Helsinki University of Technology, Espoo, Finland, in 2009, and the Doctor of Science degree in applied physics from the School of Science, Aalto University, Espoo, Finland, in 2013. He is an Assistant Professor with the Department of Applied Physics, School of Science, Aalto University, Espoo, Finland. He is also a Research Fellow of the Academy of Finland (2018–2023), a recipient of the ERC Starting Grant (2019–2023), and a member of the Young Academy Finland. His current research focuses on experimental soft condensed matter physics, with emphasis on various capillary phenomena, colloidal systems, active matter, and emergence of complex behavior in apparently simple systems when driven out of the thermodynamic equilibrium.
