His research interest includes metamaterials, nanophotonics, ultrafast spectroscopy, and terahertz science and technology. His research has been supported by DOE (including LDRD program), with overall budget exceeding $10M in the projects that he has served as the PI. He has published 65 journal articles in prestigious journals including Science and Nature, which have received over 5,000 citations. He also holds 2 issued patents. He has received awards and honors including LANL LAAP Achievement Awards (2007, 2013), LANL Fellows' Prize (2015), and Fellow of American Physical Society (2015).
