My research is on asteroseismology, the study of the inner structure of the stars by using their oscillations as seismic waves. Just as we know the Earth's structure from analysing earthquakes, we can use stellar pulsations to probe their interiors. The Copernicus Center hosts a strong group of scientists working in this field, and I am the past president of the International Astronomical Union's Commission 27 on Variable Stars.
