H. E. J. Koskinen

Hannu E. J. Koskinen was born in Keuruu, Finland, in 1954. He received the M.Sc. degree in mathematics from the University of Helsinki, Helsinki, Finland, in 1979, and the Ph.D. degree in space physics from the University of Uppsala, Uppsala, Sweden, in 1985. From 1981 to 1987, he was with the Swedish Insitute of Space Physics, Uppsala. From 1987 to 1997, he was with the Finnish Meteorological Institute. Since 1997, he has served as a Professor of space physics at the Department of Physical Sciences, University of Helsinki. He has been involved both in theoretical and experimental projects in space plasma physics, including studies of wave-particle interactions above the auroras, magnetospheric storms and substorms, plasma environment of Mars, and coronal mass ejections from the sun.
