Alexey V. Sakharov was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, in 1974. He received the M.Sc. degrees in physics and technology from St. Petersburg State Polytechnical University, Russia, in 1996 and the Ph.D. degree in semiconductor physics from A.F. Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg, Russia, in 2000. He joined the Centre for Nanoheterostructure Physics, A.F. Ioffe Physico-Technical Institute, in 1996, where he is now Scientific Researcher. In 2000–2004, he was a Visitoring Scientist in the OES/ITRI, Taiwan, R.O.C., and Technical University Berlin in the field of optoelectronic devices research. His research has been focused on the fabrication, characterization, and applications of III–V optoelectronic devices. He is coauthor of more than 50 papers in this field.
