Giorgio Quer (Senior Member, IEEE) received the B.Sc. degree, the M.Sc. degree (Hons.), and the Ph.D. degree in information engineering from the University of Padova, Italy, in 2005, 2007, and 2011, respectively. In 2007, he was a Visiting Researcher with the Centre for Wireless Communication, University of Oulu, Finland. From 2010 to 2017, he was a Visiting Scholar and then a Post-Doctoral Fellow with Qualcomm Institute, University of California San Diego, researching on wireless sensors and cognitive networks. Since 2017, he has been a Senior Staff Scientist and the Director of artificial intelligence (AI) with the Scripps Research Translational Institute, La Jolla, CA, USA. His research interests include wireless sensor networks, wearable sensors, probabilistic models, AI for time series data, deep learning, and digital medicine. He was the Chair for different IEEE GLOBECOM Symposia in 2015 and 2019 and is a Distinguished Lecturer for the IEEE Communications Society from 2018 to 2021.
