Gioia Lucarini

Gioia Lucarini (M'13) received the M.S. degree (Hons.) in biomedical engineering from the University of Pisa, Pisa, Italy, in 2009. Since 2009, she has been working towards the Ph.D. degree in biorobotics at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Pisa, and in November 2013, she discussed her thesis untitled “Study and Development of Control and Localization Strategies for Medical Robotic Microdevices.” During her Ph.D. program she also collaborated with the Center for Micro-BioRobotics, SSSA, Pontedera, Italy, Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, and with the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery, Children's Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA. Her main research interests are in the field of development of control, actuation and localization strategies based on electromagnetic fields for surgical robotics and microrobotics. She is author of about 24 scientific papers, with 7 in ISI Journals and 17 in International Conference Proceedings.
