Giancarla Alberti

Giancarla Alberti was born in Soresina (CR) on 26.12.1969 and graduated in Chemistry with first-class honors at the University of Pavia on 05.10.1993. The same year, she passed the National examination, enabling her to exert Chemist’s profession. From 1993 to 1996, she collaborated with the Analytical Chemistry group of the Department of General Chemistry at the University of Pavia. In December 1999, she received a Ph.D. in Chemical Sciences at the University of Pavia, with a doctoral thesis entitled: “Solid sorbents for metal-ions: characterization and applications in analytical chemistry,” with Prof. Teresa Soldi as a supervisor. From 1999 to 2002, she had contracts with different public and private research centers. She became a researcher in Analytical Chemistry at the Faculty of Mat. Phys. Nat. Sciences of the University of Pavia on 01.02.2002, then associate professor on 11.05.2015. Her research focused on: investigations on biphasic equilibria between metal-ions solutions and solid sorbents of various nature (ion-exchange and chelating resins, molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP); activated carbon, soils, and clays); speciation of trace metal ions in different matrices; development of electrochemical and optical sensors/methods for metal ions; data treatment with chemometric approaches.
