Gavino Faa

Born in Masullas (OR), Sardinia, Italy on June 29, 1952 Graduated in Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of the University of Cagliari, 31.03.1977, defending a thesis on "Hyaline membrane disease in the newborn". Postgraduated in Pathology, Catholic University of Rome, December 1980, defending a thesis of "Toxicity of exposure to Vinil Chloride in rats". Assistant of Pathology in the University Hospital "San Giovanni di Dio", 1979-1986 Associate Professor of Ultrastructural Pathology, Division of Pathology, University of Cagliari, 1986-1994. 1989: Resident at the Catholic University of Leuven (KU Leuven) under the supervision of Prof. Valeer Desmet. Project on light chain deposition disease of the liver and vanishing liver disease in adulthood. 1994. Full Professor of Pathology atb the University of Cagliari. 1994-2022: Director of the Institute of Pathology of the University of Cagliari, Italy. 2002: Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Cagliari, Italy 2005-2008: President of the Italian College of Full Professors in Pathology. 2018-2023: Adjunct Professor Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, USA. 2021: President of the National Committee for the Scientific Abilitation (ASN) in Pathology.
