Emiliano R. Martins received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), São Carlos, Brazil, in 2005, the M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from USP in 2008, and the M.Sc. degree in photonics and the Ph.D. degree from the University of St Andrews, St. Andrews, U.K., in 2010 and 2014, respectively. His Ph.D. thesis entitled “Light Management in Optoelectronic Devices.” He is currently a Professor with USP. His main research interests are in controlling light for applications in optoelectronics, biosensors, integrated optical systems, photonic crystals, metamaterials and metasurfaces, plasmonics, biophotonics, photovoltaics, and thin films.
