Her primary areas of expertise include assessment of higher-order physical function including endurance walk performance and fatigability and changes with aging. She also has substantial interest and experience in evaluating the behavioral, psychological, biomechanical and physiologic factors and conditions that impact energetic cost and reserve capacity and how these in turn impact maintenance and decline in function and the overall aging process. She has extensive knowledge of proper design and conduct of longitudinal observational studies of aging and aged individuals and appropriate analysis techniques. She has established a broad network of domestic and international collaborators, with activities ranging from a close mentoring role to shared expertise towards development and completion of both specific manuscripts and substantial large-scale initiatives.
