His research deals with human-robot Interaction, medical robotics, telerobotics, and haptics. He has contributed to the advancement of several robot venture companies by technology transfer.
Based on his research career, at present, he serves a position as an OperationDSC_1018 Committee Member of Multiple Intelligence Robot Convergence Cluster in 2015, Research and Development Planner of National Research Foundation, Operation Director of Virtual Training System Industry Forum Committee, and Member of the Administrative Committee (AdCom) of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS), and IROS2016 Program Chair.
Moreover, he is Vice-Chairman of the Board in Korean Society of Medical Robotics, Vice-president of the Korea NOTE Society (K-NOTES), Core Committee Member of Korea Association of Robot Industry, and Director of Korea Robot Soccer Association. Also, he was President of Korea Robotics Society, and Founding Chairman of Korea Haptics Community. He was General Chair of the 16th IEEE International Symposium on Robot and Human Interactive Communication (ROMAN 2007), General Chair of the IEEE World Haptics Conference 2013 (WHC 2013), and also Chairman of Member Service Committee of Member Activities Board in IEEE RAS.
