Bio
Kunhiraman Devan was born in Kerala, India, in 1963. He received the master’s degree in nuclear physics and the M.Phil. degree in solid-state physics from the University of Calicut, Malappuram, India, in 1985 and 1986, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in physics in nuclear data for fast-breeder reactors (FBRs) from the University of Madras, Chennai, India, in 2000.
He underwent one-year post-graduate training in nuclear engineering with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai, India. Since 1987, he has been with the Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam, India, where he has been involved in fast-reactor physics. He held a post-doctoral fellowship from Kyungpook National University, Daegu, Korea, in 2004. He is an expert on nuclear data and fast reactor core neutronics. He currently heads the Reactor Neutronics Division of Reactor Design Group, which is responsible for the core neutronics and safety aspects of prototype FBR and future FBRs.
