I am the Director of Southwest National Primate Research Center and a Professor at Texas Biomedical Research Institute. My research program focusses on different aspects of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infections: i) dissect the role played by the Mtb sigH network; ii) leverage the macaque model of TB and of TB/AIDS to understand pathogenesis; iii) understand the Mtb genetic requirements for survival; iv) systems biology approaches to identify signatures of latency and reactivation; v) evaluation of novel anti-TB drugs and vaccines.
