I have started my career as a neuroanatomist and neurophysiologist. My main topic has been the dopamine system in the control of attention, memory, and in the regulation of cyclic movements. For several years, I have gained interest in the understanding of kidney pathologies. This shift, in the end, introduced me to the most interesting scenario for brain damage: the cognitive impairment due to kidney failure.
