个人简介
David Le Vine's research has focused on passive remote sensing at L-band with applications to monitoring parameters such as soil moisture and sea surface salinity. An example of this work is the development of the synthetic aperture radiometer, ESTAR, and its successor, 2D-STAR. He was Deputy Principal Investigator for AQUARIUS, the NASA Earth System Science Pathfinder (ESSP) mission launched in June 2011 to measure sea surface salinity. He is a member of the Quality Working Group for ESA’s Soil Moisture and Ocean Salinity (SMOS) mission and a member of the science team for the NASA Soil Moisture Active Passive (SMAP) mission. Dr. Le Vine’s background is electrical engineering with specialization in electromagnetic theory and physics. He has also done work on scattering from rough surfaces, propagation through random media, and radiation from lightning. He has also been active in protecting spectrum for remote sensing from RFI and served as a member of the National Academy of Science Committee for Radio Frequency (CORF).
