C.L. Winter, an applied mathematician and groundwater hydrologist, was a member of the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory and principal investigator on Los Alamos's project to model the water cycles of regional basins. He is currently the deputy director of the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. Winter also is an adjunct professor in the Department of Hydrology and Water Resources at the University of Arizona. He has a PhD in applied mathematics from the University of Arizona.
