David Calvo

Dr. David Calvo, MD, PhD, is a Consultant in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at University Hospital of Asturias, Spain. Previously, Dr. Calvo was a Research Fellow in Experimental Cardiac Electrophysiology, at the Center for Arrhythmia Research (Up-State New York University, USA). Thereafter, he was a Fellow in the Cardiac Electrophysiology Unit of the University Hospital Gregorio Marañón (Madrid, Spain). He is accredited by the European Heart Rhythm Association and the Spanish Society of Cardiology as a qualified interventional cardiac electrophysiologist since 2010. Dr. Calvo is Graduated in Medicine at the University of Oviedo, Spain, and he completed his training in Cardiology at University Hospital of Asturias, Spain. He holds a PhD in Medicine from the Complutense University (Madrid, Spain), he is graduated in Statistics for Biomedical Science (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona, Spain) and also holds a Master Degree in Cardiac Electrophysiology from the Complutense University (Madrid, Spain). As a senior scientist he focuses on mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmias with special dedication to cardiac fibrillation. He was awarded by the Cardiac Electrophysiology Society, USA, as the best research project presented in 2012 under the title: “Phase- and Frequeny-Domain Analysis of the Surface ECG Localizes Arrhythmogenic Sources of Ventricular Fibrillation in Humans.” He was also awarded by the Spanish Cardiac Electrophysiology Society, Spain, as the best research project presented in 2014 under the title: “Spectral analysis of electrograms in a substrate modified by radiofrequency ablation reveals similarities between organized and disorganized atrial rhythms.”
