Cătălin M Ticos

Cătălin M. Ticoş was born in Bucharest, Romania. He received the B.S. and M.S. degrees in physics from the University of Bucharest, Bucharest, in 1995 and 1996, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, USA, in May 2002. In 2003, he moved to the U.K., where he was hired as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Oxford, Oxford, U.K. He then went to the Los Alamos National Laboratory, Santa Fe, NM, USA, where he worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the P-24 Plasma Physics Group. He is currently a Senior Scientist with the Extreme Light Infrastructure-Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP), Horia Hulubei National Institute for R&D in Physics and Nuclear Engineering (IFIN-HH), Măgurele, Romania. He collaborates with his former research group based at the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (INFLPR), Măgurele. Since 2020, he has been a Ph.D. Advisor in physics at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, Bucharest. His main interests are in laser–plasma acceleration of particles, irradiation of materials, dynamics of plasma crystals, and the application of machine learning algorithms in physics.
