个人简介
A graduate of the University of Florida and the University of Tennessee, Dr. Charles Stuart Daw is a UT-Battelle Corporate Fellow in the Fuels, Engines, and Combustion Research Center (www.feerc.ornl.gov) at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he has been a research staff member for over 35 years. Dr. Daw is also a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) and an active member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) and the International Combustion Institute. Dr. Daw has broad research experience in a range of energy-related fields including coal conversion, fluidization, reaction engineering, combustion, and engineering applications of nonlinear dynamics and complex systems theory. His technical contributions and leadership have been recognized through numerous awards presented by ORNL and his sponsors in the U.S. Department of Energy. He has been a co-inventor on 14 patents and has published over 200 articles.
Some of Dr. Daw’s most significant contributions have involved his promotion of inter-disciplinary collaboration among chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, combustion scientists, chemists, physicists, and automotive engineers. He currently coordinates two prominent multi-lab activities under the U.S. Department of Energy’s Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) Program: the Crosscut Lean and Low-temperature Exhaust Emissions Reduction Simulation (CLEERS) project (www.cleers.org) and the Computational Pyrolysis Consortium (CPC) project (www.energy.ornl.gov/cpc/). He also serves as a faculty member and student mentor in the University of Tennessee Bredesen Center for Interdisciplinary Research and Graduate Education and as an adjunct faculty member in the Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering and the Mechanical, Aerospace, and Biomedical Engineering Departments.
