Investigating genes involved in neurodegeneration. My doctoral studies concerned the gene mutated in chorea-acanthocytosis, a progressive movement disorder. Since 2008 I have been working on genes that are mutated in dementia and related neurodegeneration, particularly frontotemporal dementia - motor neuron disease (FTD-MND).
Genetics of brain function. Through collaborations with researchers at Neuroscience Research Australia, UNSW and University of Sydney, I examine common DNA variants (polymorphisms) that predispose to aggression, anxiety and depression.
