The goal of my research is to understand the fundamental mechanisms of normal and pathological development of the cerebral cortex. I use genetic analysis, multiphoton microscopy, and live imaging strategies targeting mitochondria, calcium signaling, and other subcellular components to examine how developmental processes in cortical stem cells and newborn neurons lead to brain morphogenesis and malformations.
