Tilo Baumbach

Tilo Baumbach received the Diplom-Physiker degree from the University of Leipzig, in 1986, and the Habilitation degree X-ray scattering by nanostructures from the University of Potsdam, in 2000. From 1986 to 1990, he was involved in Ph.D. thesis with the University of Leipzig. From 1991 to 1996, he was an Instrument Responsible with the Institute Laue Langevin, Grenoble, France. From 1996 to 1999, he was a Group Leader and long-term Visitor with the Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing, Dresden, at ESRF, Grenoble. From 1999 to 2004, he was the Head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Non-Destructive Testing, Dresden. He is currently a Director of the synchrotron light source ANKA with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. His research interests include X-ray scattering and imaging, in particular, the investigation of nano and microstructures in material science and biology, and the development of image processing algorithms.
