个人简介
Amir Abadi is an agricultural scientist specialising in farming system research. His focus is on improving commercial viability of agribusinesses. His research utilises economic research and decision analysis accounting for risk under limited information with the aim of enhancing managerial decisions.
Amir is the leader of the Improved Farming System Program at the Centre for Crop and Disease Management, at Curtin University. This program, funded by GRDC and Curtin, is focused on a suite of national research projects with express mission of enabling growers and advisors to reduce economic loss from diseases and find more innovative and resilient ways of farming.
Before joining CCDM and Curtin, Amir was senior principal scientist at the Departments of Environment and Agriculture as well as three Cooperative Research Centres. With over two decades of experience, Amir has worked on business analysis and industry development of food and fibre, and the emerging energy crops.
Amir’s work has focussed on enhancing decision-making and resource allocation in the rural and the resources sector. His research has also included the economics of risk, information and learning when it comes to making investment or input decisions under uncertainty in broadacre Agricultural businesses.
Amir has been an advocate of collaborative research and given priority to interdisciplinary work so as to produce results that have rigour and practical relevance to agricultural industries. Amir has developed Risky Business (aka Future Farm Business Simulation), MIDAS, IMAGINE, LEAP2MPCN among numerous other models. He has also used these models in numerous projects for economic analysis of farming systems to enable advisors enhance growers’ management and welfare.
