Bio
Dr. Min Wang joined Visa as SVP, head of Visa Research in May 2015. Her previous appointments include Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google Research (Mountain View, CA), HP Distinguished Technologist and Director of HP Labs China (Beijing, China), and Research Staff Member and manager of the Unified Data Analytics Department at IBM's Thomas J. Watson Research Center (Hawthorne, New York). Her research interests are in database systems and information management. In 2009, she received the ACM SIGMOD 2009 Test of Time Award for her 1999 SIGMOD paper, "Approximate Computation of Multidimensional Aggregates of Sparse Data Using Wavelets". She received her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Duke University and the B.S. and M.S. degrees, both in Computer Science, from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China.
Visa Research is a newly created organization as part of the company’s effort on expanding its technology research capabilities globally.
Visa Research conducts both applied and fundamental research. It engages with the company’s technology and product teams, business partners, academics, and governments, to explore and develop technologies that are critical to the payments industry.
Visa Research is building research teams in three areas: Data Analytics, Security, and Future of Payment. We are looking for world-class researchers to work with us on unique challenges as the payment industry is undergoing a digital transformation with data as a critical differentiator.
